Yvette Mendez

February 21, 1963 — February 15, 2024

Mount Vernon

Yvette Mendez, born on February 21, 1963, peacefully departed this world on February 15, 2024. She was a graduate of St. Raymond's Academy for Girls and The Wood School, laying a strong educational foundation for her future endeavors.

Yvette began her professional journey with the New York Yankees, where her passion for sports thrived. She later ventured into the fashion world, contributing her skills to Calvin Klein and G-III Apparel. Her dedication and talents left an indelible mark on those she worked with.

Yvette cherished her friendships, sharing a deep bond with people from her high school days to her professional life; Connie, Nita, Gene, Kelly, and Mable just a few among many. Her warm spirit and genuine connections enriched the lives of those around her.

A culinary enthusiast, Yvette found joy in cooking, delighting friends and family with her delicious creations. So much so that she was labeled the cheesecake lady by coworker, Carl Banks. She was a devoted Yankees fan, attending games and celebrating victories. Additionally, she enjoyed immersing herself in the world of television, finding comfort and entertainment in a myriad of shows. Yet with all this, she found time to dance to disco music in her youth, incorporating it into her love of salsa, which she would do for the rest of her days.

The only thing that challenged any of the above was her love for travel. Yvette went to Puerto Rico, The Dominican Republic, the Bahamas, Bermuda, Hawaii, and Italy to name a few. Not to mention the number of cities she would travel to for work in the United States. On vacation, she more than once left for work in the morning from the place she was vacationing and missed her flight twice. She had a serious case of fear of missing out, so she squeezed every drop from her vacation as she did in life.

Yvette is survived by her loving family: her father Hector Mendez, mother Olga Mendez, and brother Hector Mendez Jr. She leaves behind Aunts and uncles Margarita and Tony Rios, Willie, and Lily Mendez, Luz and Lola Mendez, Florencio, Rosa and Carmen Martinez, and Irma Melendez, approximately 40 loving cousins who will forever cherish the memories they shared.

In remembrance, we honor Yvette's life, celebrating the joy, passion, and love she brought to those fortunate enough to know her. May she find eternal peace alongside her predeceased grandparents and aunts and uncles, who surely welcomed her with open arms.
