Born in Bullaun Co Galway to Martin and Elizabeth Flannery, William was one of 12 children. He was raised on the family farm in Bullaun where he helped his father farm and cut turf on the land. The couple moved to Pelham, NY where they would raise their three children Kevin, William Jr., and Michael. William worked tirelessly to support his family while his wife Bridget also worked as a receptionist. In his spare time he loved to travel back home to Galway, to listen to the hurling and Gaelic Football games on the radio and spend the odd Sunday at Gaelic Park when he wasn't working.
William will be remembered as a hardworking, positive person who was full of joy, and a great friend to many. He is survived by his sons Kevin and William Jr. (Janine) Flannery, his grandchildren; Jackie, Will and Connor.
