Virginia "Jeanne Arcaro" Solicito, of Pelham passed away peacefully on February 6, 2017.
She was 102 years old. Born in the Bronx, Virginia was raised by her late parents Cristina and Peter Arcaro. She met her late husband, Leonard Solicito, and together they began a life of matrimony that lasted for decades. They moved to Pelham in 1949 and lived in the town for 60 years.
Virginia was a talented dancer and she and her sisters, Rose and Nettie opened the Arcaro School of Dance in the Bronx when she was just 20 years old. Hundreds of families enjoyed the artistic talent and love provided in her school.
Virginia was a spirited soul and danced and rehearsed up to the golden age of 85. She drove until the age of 88; she was indeed a "Renaissance woman." Virginia loved to entertain and gave the most splendid of parties. Everyone loved her cooking, including Joe Dimaggio, Pat Cooper and Jack Dempsey to name a few! She was truly an independent, strong, yet gentle loving person.
Virginia will be remembered and missed by her daughter, Donna, (Vincent) LaBarbera, her two sisters, Nettie Rizzi and Grace Scocozza; nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews. Her kindness and caring will never be forgotten by her family and friends.
