Virginia Lee Lucas, a longtime resident of Orlando, FL, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. She was 88 years old. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Virginia was born in South Hampton County, Virginia on March 25, 1925. She moved to New York City in 1939 and married the late Wallace Lucas Sr. In 1984, she relocated with her job to Orlando, FL. She retired in 1992 after 20 years with Harcourt, Brace & Jovanovich. She spent her retirement years traveling, shopping and spending time with her family.
Virginia is survived by one son, Wallace Lucas Jr. of Chester, NJ and one daughter, Dolores Peterson of Mount Vernon, NY. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Sharon Lucas of Fairfax County, VA, Mark Peterson Sr. of Somerset, NJ and Lauren and Erica Peterson of Mount Vernon, NY. She has 6 great-grandchildren, Asia, Alexis, Kennedy, Eric, Mark and Marlie with a 7th on the way.
The funeral service will be held at Pelham Funeral Home In Pelham, NY on May 25 at lOam. The burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx, NY and will be private.
