Vincent Lombardi

Vincenzo "Vincent" Lombardi of Bronx, New York passed away on February 20th 2022. He was 90 years old. He was born on May 2, 1931 to the late Liberato and Maria Assunta (Iapaolo) Lombardi in Casalciprano, Italy. Vincent was the eldest of four children. In his early years, Vincent worked as a stone mason and then was drafted to the Italian Army for two years. 

After Vincent returned from the Army, he met his loving wife of 65 years In Casalciprano, Italy. They married in 1956 and were then blessed with their daughter Maria. The family eventually moved to the United States in 1966. 

Vincent’s first job in the US was building mausoleums. As a gifted builder and stone mason, he loved to learn new things and to learn on his own.

Unfortunately, Vincent had a set back early in his career which meant he could no longer do physical work. As a result, he returned to school and studied English and math, eventually becoming an accountant at Equitable Life Assurance Company until retirement. He was never one to absorb pity, instead he would turn misfortune into success.

In his spare time Vincent loved to fix and build things. He also loved to read, write, and draw. He was very artistic and had  amazing mathematical skills and could solve complex problems in his head. He also loved to travel with his family back to his roots in Italy or spend time in the vegetable garden. Family dinners were also very important in Vincent’s home.

Vincent will be remembered as loving, witty, giving and selfless to a fault. To say he was strong-willed and a survivor would be an understatement. He loved people, especially family and his close friends. 

Vincent is survived by his loving wife Nunziatina “Nancy”, his loving daughter Maria (Enzo) Carovillano, his beloved grandchildren Nicholas and Christopher, and his dear sister Rosanna (Tony) D’Oro. He is predeceased by his brother Federico Lombardi and his sister Dina Gasparrini. Vincent will be missed by everyone who knew him.

A celebration of Vincents life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, New York on Wednesday, February 23rd from 4-8Pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church located at 575 Fowler Avenue, Pelham Manor New York on Thursday, February 24th at 10:00am.
