Thomas Loughran of Pelham Manor, NY passed away peacefully on February 10th. He was 91 years old. He was recently a resident at the Wartburg Adult Community.
Thomas was above all a beloved Irishman who was a family man and neighbor who will be remembered by generations of people whose lives he touched.
Born in Manhattan to Thomas and Rose Loughran (County Armagh and County Down), Thomas grew up eldest of 4 children; siblings Patrick, John and Ann all pre-deceased. He graduated from De LaSalle High School and Seton Hall University where he majored in Accounting. Shortly after graduating, Thomas went into the US Navy. His distinguished accomplishments and time spent in the Navy left him with a life-long respect and love for the USN. At the time of his honorable discharge from the Navy he had earned the Victory, American Theater, Asiatic Pacific and European Medals for distinguish service to our country.
Thomas's attendance at a local dance led to the most important time of his life when he met Frances Gomes. It was love at first sight and deep love remained throughout their 59 years of marriage.
Married in May 1953 the two shared a life filled with love and respect for each other, their eight children, deep friendships and their community.
Thomas's career ranged from working for IBM to being a business owner. In his retirement, Thomas became a Realtor working in Pelham. He also continued to be an active volunteer for the local food pantry, Meals on Wheels and member of the Pelham Rotary Club. A devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church for 61 years, Thomas volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister and Usher for many years.
He was a member of the Larchmont Shore Club since 1960.
