IN LOVING MEMORY OF SANDRA DANIEL also known as SD, our beloved mother, daughter, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister, friend was called home on March 6, 2021. Sandra Daniel (SD) was born in Washington, DC on Wednesday, November 4, 1953, to parents Jean and Samuel Daniel. Sandra was the youngest of two siblings at the time.
Our mom Sandra was educated in the Nyack Public School system and successfully received her diploma. She continued to live in Nyack, NY and became a volunteer Candy Striper at Nyack Hospital where she also worked.
Our mom Sandra later moved to Mount Vernon, NY where she met Herbert DeVore. Out of this union she had 4 amazing children and continued to raise their children together. Throughout their parenting ship they shared a bond.
Our mom Sandra became the matriarch of the family after the passing of her mother. She was out-going, strong, hard-working, spontaneous and as she matured her free-loving spirit remained the same. Our mom was also protective of her space, family and who she let in. It is no secret that Sandra loved, spoiled and provided for her children, grandchildren and great grandchild. She was also recognized and loved as a second mother to other children.
She also enjoyed traveling to Atlantic City and FoxWoods casinos, concerts to see the performances by Smokey Robinson, Bobby Brown, Michael Jackson just to name a few. She savored the tunes of Janet Jackson, Ray Goodman and Brown, Johnny Gill, Mary J. Blige, Tupac, Gladys Knight and Snoop Dog. She frequently went to the beach, took road trips, having family gatherings with plenty of food and beverages. She loved to cook, watch television court proceeding shows, collect gadgets for the home, collect memories along the way and preserve them, gardening, decorating her home especially during the holidays, often told jokes and most of all she looked forward to holiday gatherings and the occasional summer barbeques. Keeping the family together was her priority and the simple things in life made our mother happy.
Our mom also worked as a security officer for years until she retired last year. She was hard-working and preferred to keep busy everyday.
Despite not having a church affiliation, she believed in God and was a strong believer of treating people with respect and fairness.
Our mom Sandra was predeceased by her mother Mrs. Jean Daniel. She is survived by her father, four children, grandchildren, great-grandchild and two sisters.
On the early morning of March 6, 2021 God dispatched his angels to carry our mom to her heavenly home! Sandra will be deeply missed. Our mom's loving memory and legacy will be forever cherished by her father: Mr. Samuel Daniel of Georgia, children: Sakina Daniel (Kina) of Mount Vernon, Jessica Daniel (Angelica) and Sade Daniel (Ms. Muffin) of Yonkers, only son Javon Daniel (Snoop) of the Bronx, grandchildren: Qeayanna Clark (Kayla) of Manhattan, Quintin Blakley (QD) of North Carolina, Jacob Henry (Jake) of Yonkers, Shyera Harrell (Chy) of Mount Vernon, Savannah Khadaroo (Boss Baby) of Yonkers, great-grandchild: Zaiden Kerr (Zai-Zai) of Manhattan, sisters: Jeanette Marlow of Spring Valley, Darlene Daniel Beals of Colorado, nieces: Ayanna Marlow of Spring Valley, Syretta Johnson mother of great niece and nephew: Leah and Julian Johnson all of New Jersey, father our Sandra's children and friend: Hubert DeVore of Mount Vernon, long-time partner friend Kenny Stewart of Mount Vernon, and the Thomas family of Mount Vernon, loving pets: Too-Bitt (dog) and Tigger (cat), and a host of extended family and friends.
Sandra was a courageous woman and demonstrated strength and fought the good fight down to her very last breath.
"Good-Byes are foreverâ¦..it is LATER as we will meet again."
