Ryan Coleman of Pelham Manor, New York passed away on Christmas Day, 2016. He was 24 years old. Born the eldest child to Greg and Adrienne Coleman of Pelham Manor, New York, Ryan was extraordinary from the very beginning. A brilliant and loving person, he excelled in school. He attended Prospect Hill Elementary School in Pelham Manor, and Iona Grammar and Iona Preparatory High School in New Rochelle, NY where his love of learning was cultivated and grew. He played Football for Iona Prep and with his team, won a State Championship. While in High School, Ryan attended many social events but most significant was a dance at Holy Child High School. When he got home that evening, he told his mother that he had met a girl in a Sailor Hat and he thought that she "may be the one". The couple began dating and recently became engaged to be married.
Ryan's academic performance and board exams led to his acceptance at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. While studying at Georgetown, Ryan became involved in the Georgetown Chimes Acapella singing group and performed in many large events. He studied Computer Science and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in 2014. After graduation, he was hired at Alvarez and Marsal in New York City as a Research Analyst. Ryan possessed a strong work ethic and was admired by his colleagues. "Every room got better when Ryan entered it" was how one co-worker described him.
A love for travel and learning new things was part of Ryan. He never stopped setting and achieving new goals. Mostly, Ryan loved his family and his fiancé. Their happiness was everything to him. He cherished time-spent fishing with his dad on the McKenzie River or traveling with his fiancé. His intelligence was only secondary to his generous and loving nature.
Ryan is survived by his parents, Greg and Adrienne Coleman, and his fiancé, Lauretta Purwin. He will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Emily, and his brother, Kevin, and his grandparents: Charles & Marie Rizzo of New Rochelle and Ben & Jackie Coleman of Vida, Oregon.
Ryan's Family will receive visitors during calling hours from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 29th at Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Ave., Pelham, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 30th, 10:00 AM, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 559 Pelham Manor Road, Pelham Manor, New York.
