Robert Velasco, a life long resident of New Rochelle passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 6th 2017. He was 65 years old. Robert was born in Bolivia to Pablo and Yamila Mustafa. He was raised in Santa Cruz where he attended local schools before graduating from the Military Academy. Upon graduation he emigrated to New Rochelle with his Dad. It was soon there after he met his wife Rosie and together they would raise two children.
Robert loved living in the United States. His strong work ethic helped him get ahead in life. When he first came to New York he began working for the Rye Country Club along with various other jobs. He eventually worked for the Pelham School District where he would have retired in January 2018 as head custodian. Outside of the Pelham School system he loved to be with his family and friends. If you did not finding him grilling on the barbecue he would be watching tennis or rooting for the NewYork Jets. He also enjoyed his cars and sitting in the sun at the beach. Robert will be remembered as a hardworking family man. Although his was strong minded he was loving and generous to those he knew.
Robert is survived by his children Robert & Karla, His partner Marina and his eight Grandchildren Bobby, Matthew, Richie, Gabi, Anthony, Becky, CJ and Sophia, and two great grandchildren Max and Catalina. He will be missed by all that knew him.
A celebration of Roberts life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, NY, on Sunday, September 10th from 4pm to 8pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Gabrielle's Church 120 Division Street New Rochelle New York on Monday September 11th at 10:00am. Internment will be private.
