Robert C. Riccio, of Bronxville, New York, passed away on July 3, 2024, at the age of 78. Born in the Bronx to Carmine and Josephine Riccio, Robert was the elder of two children. He grew up in the Bronx, attending St. Martin of Tours and Cardinal Hayes High School. After high school, Robert pursued higher education at Iona College, where he earned a master's degree in History. His passion for academics led him to further his studies at Fordham University, where he obtained a second master's degree in Library Science and a third master's degree in Education.
Robert dedicated his career to education, teaching at Iona College and later at Kennedy High School. He taught History and also worked in the school library. In his spare time, Robert was an avid reader with a keen interest in politics. He also enjoyed going to the movies and traveling occasionally.
Robert will be remembered as a loving, intelligent, and proud individual.
He is survived by his cousins and their spouses: Joy De Chiaro, George Sprecace MD, Bernadette Wood, Mary Ann Healy, Carolyn Varicchio, Vincent Riccio, Charles Salisbury and Benjamin Salisbury. He was predeceased by his sister, Anne Marie Riccio.
A celebration of Robert’s life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home, located at 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, New York, on Sunday, July 7, from 2-6 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ann’s Church, 31 College Place, Yonkers, New York, on Monday, July 8, at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale.
