Robert Charla

Robert J. Charla ( Bob C) was the son of the late Edward Charla and Catherine Toften. He was born in New Rochelle, NY on 9/3/1957.

He attended Trinity Elementary School and Isaac E. Young Jr. High School in New Rochelle before moving to Westport, CT with his father, stepmother, Rita Charla, his brother Ed Charla Jr and his stepbrothers, Jed and Clay Yalof.There he attended Staples High School and completed his GED several years later.

Robert suffered from depression and had been hospitalized on a few occasions. In spite of this serious issue he made many friends throughout his life, and stayed in close contact with the Charla, Yalof, Toften and Kriegler families.

He is survived by his wife Natalie Kriegler, a concert violinist. They recently celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary on 11/27/21. He is also survived by several cousins including Stephen Charla of Wellington FL, his stepbrothers, Jed and Clay Yalof and by many nieces and nephews.

On 12/29/21 Bob would have been proud to celebrate 34 years of sobriety in the AA program.

He enjoyed dining out, shooting pool, drawing and painting, fishing, travelling, performing slight of hand, card tricks, magic tricks and telling jokes. He was also experienced with the heimlich maneuver and had saved several lives utilizing it. He spent many years working as a part time leather-cleaning expert for Police Departments, Attorneys, Judges, Insurance Agents, Car dealers and many others with his "Bobs Rubber Soul" business.

He was loved by many people in the New Rochelle, Mt Vernon, Pelham, Westchester and greater NY area and was regarded as a warm, kind, friendly, helpful and a nice all around very good guy with a great sense of humor.

Sadly he was taken away from his loved ones and friends due to an unexpected medical complication on 11/30/21. He will be sorely missed by his wife and everyone who knew him. RIP Bob C.
