Ralph E. Magliulo of Pelham, New York passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2018. He was 90 years old. Ralph lived in Pelham for more than 50 years with his wife Kathleen who pre-deceased him in December 2009. They were married for 55 years.
Ralph E. Magliulo was born on March 31, 1928 to Ralph and Frances Magliulo of Mount Vernon, NY. He had four older sisters (Margaret, Josephine, Carolyn, and Louise). Three of his sisters have pre-deceased Ralph. His sister Louise Magliulo who was 9 years older than Ralph also died on Sunday, May 6, 2018, three hours before her brother's death. Louise lived at Barn Hill Care Nursing Center in Newton, NJ.
Ralph graduated from Edison Vocational High School in 1946 and, soon thereafter, served in the U.S. Navy on the Battleship U.S.S. Wisconsin BB-64 from 1946 to 1948. Upon his return from the U.S. Navy, he started his apprenticeship as a bricklayer in Connecticut before transferring to the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local Union #37 located in the Bronx, NY in the early 1950's. He married Kathleen in 1954 and they moved to Pelham in 1960. Ralph and Kathleen had four children â daughter, Kathleen Jones and husband Hugh of Wappinger Falls NY; son, Ralph E. Magliulo, Jr. and wife Kathleen of Pelham, NY; son, Mark J. Magliulo and wife Maria of Old Bridge, NJ; and, daughter, Laura A. Magliulo, of Pelham, NY.
After being employed by the Bricklayer's Local Union #37 for decades, Ralph started his own construction company called REMCO Contracting, Inc. which he had for many years until retirement. Ralph truly enjoyed Pelham. He was very involved in Little League Baseball serving as a coach for more than 15 years and then as Commissioner. All while being a devoted husband and exemplary father, Ralph served as the Village of Pelham's Building Inspector for 20 years and most recently, held the position of Pelham's Clerk of the Works. He was a member of the Pelham Civics Association and the American Legion.
Ralph's greatest happiness and pride was being with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He is survived by 8 grandchildren (Luke, Erin, Katie, Ralph III, Laura, Marissa, Jaclyn and Nicole) and a loving extended family of his grandchildren's spouses, 5 great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces that he deeply cared for. He is survived by Dolores and Charles Gregory, his late wife's sister and husband and Patricia Asnip, wife of his pre-deceased brother in law, William.
Ralph, an extraordinary human being who had a positive impact on his family, his trade, the Pelham community, and his friends both young and elderly will be missed immensely.
A celebration of Ralph's life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home, located at 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, NY, on Thursday, May 10th from 3:00 pm to 9:00PM. A mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Catharines Church, 25 Second Ave, Pelham NY on Friday, May 11th at 10:00 AM.
