Rachelina Nardi of Bronx, New York passed away on August 1st 2021. She was 85 years old. Born in Calabria Italy to Giusseppe and Carmela Perricone, Rachelina was the eldest of 4 children. She immigrated to the United States when she was six months old with her mother and they would settle in Manhattan. Rachelina attended local schools before eventually graduating from Washington Irving High School. Rachelina loved school and was awarded with both the General Excellence Medal for academics and the Italian medal.
Rachelina worked for the Bell Telephone Company after graduating. While working for the phone company she would meet her husband of 64 years Frank Nardi at a wedding in the Bronx. The couple would marry in September 1956 and settle in the Bronx where they raised their two sons Frank and Nicholas. Rachelina quit working at the Telephone company so she could raise her children. In her spare time she loved to go to the movies, dance and read mystery novels. She loved children and adored her grandson Christopher.
Rachelina will be remembered as a loving and nurturing person. She was a wonderful teacher to her children and grandson, unselfish and always put family first.
Rachelina is survived by her husband Frank, her son’s Frank and Nicholas (Lynn) Nardi. She will be deeply missed by her grandson Christopher and everyone who knew her.
A Celebration of Rachelina’s life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, New York on Thursday August 5th from 4-8 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church located at 575 Fowler Avenue, Pelham Manor New York on Friday August 6th at 10am.
