Pia Lucia Egan December 11, 2024 – Age 59
Loving Wife, Mother, Daughter, and Friend
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pia Lucia Egan, who left us on December 11, 2024, at the age of 59. A lifelong resident of the Bronx, Pia was born to Pasquale and Ida Bastone and was the eldest of three children. She grew up on Barnes Avenue, where she attended St. Lucy's Elementary School and St. Catherine's High School. After high school, Pia went on to study at Westchester Community College, setting the foundation for a life of hard work and dedication.
Pia’s career was as varied as it was fulfilling. After finishing her studies, she worked several jobs before meeting the love of her life, Kevin Egan, while working in downtown Manhattan. The two were married at St. Theresa’s Church in Pelham Bay and shared 26 wonderful years together. They lived in the Bronx for many years before moving to Woodlawn, where they raised their four children, Patrick, Kevin, Noelle, and Jessica.
For many years, Pia worked as a bus driver, helping children with special needs get to school safely each day. She found great joy in serving her community and always took pride in her work, particularly when it came to making sure others were taken care of—whether it was her children or the kids she transported.
In her free time, Pia loved nothing more than curling up to watch an episode of Columbo, indulging in some retail therapy, and trying out new recipes in the kitchen. She cherished family trips to the beach, from Cape May to the Jersey Shore, and created lasting memories with her loved ones.
Pia will be remembered most for her unwavering love and devotion to her family. She was the heart of her household and nothing made her happier than taking care of the people she loved.
Pia is survived by her beloved husband, Kevin; her four children, Patrick, Kevin, Noelle, and Jessica; her mother, Ida; her siblings, Frank Bastone and Marylou Capobianco; and her many nephews, nieces, and a wide circle of friends who will all miss her dearly. She is predeceased by her father, Pasquale Bastone.
A Celebration of Pia’s Life will be held at Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, NY, on Monday, December 16, from 4:00-8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Barnabas Church, Martha Avenue, Bronx, NY, on Tuesday, December 17, at 9:30 am, with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
