Peter Lovisa

Peter R. Lovisa of Pelham Manor, NY, passed away on June 8, 2022 at the age of 95. He was born in the Bronx one of two sons of Angelo and Domenica Lovisa. Peter graduated in 1948 from Cornell University with a Degree in Civil Engineering and served in the United States Navy. Peter married the love of his life, his wife, Regina, and they moved to Pelham Manor, where they raised their two children, Linda, and Elise Lovisa.

Peter and his brother began their own company, Lovisa Construction Company, Inc. which handled numerous public works jobs in the NY area. Through his company, Peter oversaw the renovation of the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, and the entryway of the New York Botanical Gardens. Peter also personally managed some renovations at the New York Athletic Club in N.Y.C. He had a strong work ethic and he loved and took tremendous pride in his work.

Peter was a lifetime member of the New York Athletic Club and served on their Board of Governors. He was Commodore of the NYAC Yacht Club and on the Zoning Board Committee of Pelham Manor.

Peter will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, partner, and wonderful friend. He was an interesting man with many valuable attributes but he was above all else, an insightful thinker. Peter will be dearly missed; however, his family finds comfort in the many treasured memories he leaves behind.

Peter had many past times, travelling, playing tennis, boating, and playing bridge. He enjoyed life, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Peter is survived by his daughters, Linda Lovisa of Pelham Manor and her partner Don Geller, Elise M. Lovisa-Diamond, and her husband Marc Diamond of Ardsley. He is also survived by his two grandchildren Julia L. diamond, and Eric M. Diamond, and his loving partner Sonny Garry. He is predeceased by his wife Regina and his brother Tully Lovisa.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Peter's name to the Cornell University College of Engineering.

A celebration of Peters life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Ave., Pelham NY., on Thursday June 16, 2022, between the hours of 4:00 and 8:00 PM. A processional to the Internment will meet on Friday June 17, 2022, at 9:30 AM, at the Pelham Funeral Home. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery will be on Friday June 17, 2022, at 11:00 AM.
