Pyung Chi Yoo Rella of Pelham Manor NY passed away peacefully in her sleep after a long illness on May 4, 2018, five days before her birthday. Chi was born in Seoul, South Korea and graduated from Ewha Womans University Medical School. In 1957, she came to the U.S., where she completed her medical training as an anesthesiologist and met her husband of 56 years, Dr. Vincent J. Rella. Together they raised their children in Pelham Manor. Her happy marriage and deep love for her six children and ten grandchildren were her greatest joy. Chi will be remembered as a wise, quiet and strong woman who never complained.
Chi is survived by her husband Vincent, her six children; Grace Ann (Sean Cunnane), Angela, Vincent (Robin), Joseph (Kristin), Andrew (Elizabeth), Angelo (Melane) and her ten grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents Kak Kyum Yoo and Shin Bok Kim and her three siblings in South Korea. She will be missed by everyone she knew.
A celebration of Chi's life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home, located at 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, NY, on Sunday, May 6th from 3:00 to 8:00PM. A mass of Christian burial will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 575 Fowler Avenue in Pelham Manor, on Monday, May 7th at 10:00 AM.
