Nick Roosevelt Carter of Mount Vernon, New York, passed away on November 27, 2022. He was 83 years old. Born in Ridgeway, VA to Ethel and John Carter, Nick was one of three children. Nick was educated in Henry County Virginia. Shortly after graduating, Nick was drafted into the United States Army, where he served admirably. After Nicks service in the United States Army, he moved to New York where he met his wife, Annie. Nick and Annie raised their two daughters, Alicia, and Pamela.
Nick worked as a dietary Supervisor for Westchester County. He had a strong work ethic and loved his job. Nick always made sure family came first and always enjoyed spending time surrounded by family and friends. Nick encouraged his children to be strong, independent, loyal, and to chase their dreams.
Nick will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, relative and wonderful friend. He will be dearly missed; however, his family finds comfort in the many treasured memories he leaves behind.
Nick is survived by his two daughters, Alicia Thomas, and Pamela Tyler. He will be missed by his six grandchildren, Bryant Berry, Alicia Berry, Monique Berry, Deyshaan Tyler, Tyrese Tyler and Carisma Tyler, his five great-grandchildren, Jazlyn Berry, Tyree Tyler, Deylah Tyler, Unique Brown and Brooklyn Berry. He will also be missed by his sister, Maime Yates, his sisters-in-law’s, Rose Prince, Marthann Brown, Sheila Fields and Margie Fields, his brother-in-law, James Galloway, as well as his nieces and nephews, Daryl Galloway, Cassandra Galloway, Tonya Galloway, Charles Yates, and Angela Yates. He is predeceased by his parents, John and Ethel Carter, his sister, Carolyn Galloway and his brother-in-law, Charles E. Yates Sr.
A celebration of Nicks life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Ave., Pelham, NY, on Monday December 5, 2022, between the hours of 4:00 and 8:00 PM.
