Mauro Magnani, A life long resident of the Bronx, NY passed away on January 13, 2019. He was 81 years old.
Mauro was born and raised in Gravagna, Italy to Ernesto and Maria Magnani. He was one of seven children. At the age of eighteen he moved to the United States with his father and older brother to seek a better life for his family. He helped pave the way for his mother and younger siblings who would arrive from Italy two years later. The family would unite and settle on Dyre Avenue in the Bronx.
Mauro was a hard worker and very outgoing. He worked in construction when he first came to the United States. It was shortly after he would meet his wife of 55 years, Adele Belloni. They met through a mutual friend in Queens and later married at Our Lady of Peace in Manhattan.
Mauro was also a family man. He and his wife Adele raised their two children Stephen and Marissa in the Bronx. In his spare time he enjoyed working in his garden, fiddling in the garage, listening to Italian music, playing Lotto and gambling at the casino. He would always give his winnings to his grandchildren.
Mauro will be remembered as a loving and generous man. To some he was known as Mr. Fix it while to others he was known as the Mayor of Amundson Avenue. Although he will be remembered by his friends as stubborn and director of the orchestra he was hardworking and a devoted family man.
Mauro is survived by wife Adele, his children Stephen (Anthony Rivera) Magnani, Marissa (Michael) O'Connor. His grandchildren: Arielle and Juliana O'Connor. His siblings: Quinto Magnani, Lucia Azario and Livio Magnani. He is predeceased by his brother Sereno Magnani, John Magnani and Elisa O' Hare.
