Marie Rose Delma

Marie Rose Delma of Bronx NY, formally of Haiti, passed away on March 17th 2020. She was born in Leoganne, Haiti 75 years ago. Marie was one of twelve children. She was born to Joseph Jajoute and Silfany Jean-Baptise. She was raised in Haiti and attended local schools. It was in Haiti she would meet her husband of 45 years Jean Sylla Delma. The couple would marry before she would leave Haiti to come to the United States on her own at the age of 22.

Marie first moved to Miami before eventually settling in the Bronx. She worked as a nanny before going back to college to become a nurse. After college she pursued her calling as a certified nursing assistant. She loved taking care of people especially children. In 1974 she was reunited with her husband Jean. The couple would raise their three children together.

Marie was a devout Catholic. She attended mass regularly and when she was unable to attend she would watch Mass on ETWN. She loved to cook her families favorite meals and adored her granddaughter Sydney and grand puppy Nicco.

Marie will be remembered as a stoic soul, a devout Catholic, who loved her family. She was very private but at the same time had a wonderful sense of humor.

Marie is survived by her three daughters Dominique, Nadege and Valcuse, granddaughter Sydney, grand puppy Nicco and her many brothers and sisters. She is predeceased by her husband Jean Sylla Delma.


A private celebration of Marie's life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham NY. Internment will be private. Family and friends are encouraged to leave a condolence at www.pelhamfuneral.com.
