"Marion" Marianne Lynch of Pelham Manor passed away on Monday, February 1, 2016. She was 91 years old. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York to Clara and Arthur Norwood, Marianne moved to Westchester at the age of 18 and attended Wood Secretarial School. She completed her education at New York University.
Marianne's career is an impressive sequence of experiences in the corporate manufacturing world. Working for top-level executives at companies such as General Foods and North American Phillips (Space Division) gave Marianne a role in an exciting time in our country's corporate formulation. She then spent thirty years working in the Legal Department for the City of Mount Vernon. However, the role that was most dear to her heart was that of mother.
Raising her two children: Greg and Susan and working demanding jobs during the 1960s and 1970s made Marianne a sterling example of a working mother and grandmother. Although balancing work and home, she cared for her elderly mother until her death, made time for her children and grandchildren and two of her favorite activities, baking and needlework.
Marianne is survived by her children: Greg Lynch and Susan Lynch (Frank) Petraglia and her brother, William Norwood. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Justin and Christopher Petraglia. She is pre-deceased by her husband Charles Lynch whom she divorced in 1957.
A celebration of Marianne's life will be held at Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Ave., Pelham, NY on Monday, February 8th from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 8th at 4:00 PM, also at Pelham Funeral Home. For more information or to write a condolence, please visit www.pelhamfuneral.com.
