After a fearless battle with cancer Margaret Teresa Smith-Edge passed away on Friday, September 13th, 2019. She was 46 years old. Margaret was born in Cavan and raised in Lavey. She attended Aughadreena National School and St. Clare's College. She played Camogie and loved to Irish Dance Margaret would later take some courses in catering at the Galway Regional Technical College before moving to the United Stated in 1993 to spend some time with her Aunt Rose.
To say Margaret was a hard worker would be an understatement. She worked as a Nanny and Executive assistant for various companies. In 2003 Margaret would meet the love of her life Jerome at a hurling match. The couple would get married in 2007 and settle down in Woodlawn where they would raise their two children. Margarets main priority was her children Padraig and Seamus. In her spare time she would use running and staying fit as an outlet.
Margaret will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, sister and friend. Her beautiful smile lit up the room, and her big heart welcomed everyone into her life. She loved to entertain Her family was her priority, she was devoted to her two boys. Margaret was fun loving and determined.
Margaret will be deeply missed by her beloved husband Jerome and her children Padraig (9) and Seamus (7). She will also be missed by her sister, Rosanne and five brothers, Phillip, Andrew, Mathew, Jimmy and Sean Paul and their families, as well as a large extended family worldwide..
A celebration of Margaret's life will take place at Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Ave. Pelham NY on Tuesday, September 17th, from 4:00 â 8:00 pm. A Funeral mass will take place at Saint Barnabas Church, 409 East 241st Street, Bronx, NY on Wednesday, September 18th at 11;00 am. Margaret's remains will be repatriated home to County Cavan, Ireland where she will be buried beside her parents Jim and May Smith on Saturday, September 21 at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Margarets name to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.
