Margaret Coyle, of New Rochelle, NY, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018. Â She was 96 years old.
Born in New York City to Felix and Catherine Hackett, Margaret was one of six children. Â She attended Julia Richmond High School. Â It was in her final year of high school at a graduation party where she met her husband of 68 years, James Coyle. Â They were married in November, 1943.
Margaret and her husband James lived in the Bronx while raising their two children, James and Phillip. Â She worked for many years before retiring from Otis Elevator. Â Besides being a mother to her two children, she was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Â Margaret was a selfless lady who loved to help wherever she could. Â She later moved to New Rochelle and became active in the community as a volunteer at the Sound Shore Hospital, a member of the New Rochelle Seniors, and an active parishioner at Holy Family Church.
Margaret will be remembered as loving and high-spirited. Â She was joyful, warm and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Margaret leaves behind her son, James Coyle (Teakin); her grandchildren, Jennifer, Lauren and Christopher; her great grandchildren Audriana, Sophia and Isabella; and her many nieces and nephews. Â She will be missed by the many people who considered her their "Aunt Margie".
Margaret is predeceased by her husband James; her son Phillip; her brothers Felix and James; and her sisters, Catherine, Dorothy and Eleanor.
A celebration of Margaret's life will take place on Thursday, March 8th from 4-8 pm at Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, NY. Â A funeral mass will take place at 10:30 am on Friday, March 9th at Church of the Holy Family located at 83 Clove Road, New Rochelle, NY. Â Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY. Â In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Westchester Chapter.
