Lydia Scazzero LaCroix of Pelham, New York, passed away peacefully on Monday June 5th. She was 92 years old. Lydia was born in Brooklyn to Antonio and Julia Scazzero. She was raised in Chester Heights and graduated from Tuckahoe High School. Lydia later attended secretarial school.
A caring and dedicated person, Lydia began her career as a teller for The Peoples Bank for Savings in New Rochelle. After more than 40 years of service at the bank, she retired as Senior Vice President. Lydia married William LaCroix at Saint Catharine's church on October 14, 1945. They spent their lives together in Pelham for 49 years.
Lydia will be remembered as a helpful, caring and generous lady. She volunteered her time at Sound Shore Hospital as well as many other organizations. She was loving and generous to her family, including her eight nephews and nieces, as well as numerous grand-nephews and grand-nieces. She will be missed by her brothers Dominick, (Marilyn) William (Betty). She is predeceased by her husband William, her brother Archie and her sister Theresa Klindworth.
A celebration of Lydia's life will be held at the Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Avenue on Wednesday, June 7th from 4-8pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Saint Catharine's Church located at 25 Second Ave, Pelham, at 10 am on Thursday, June 8th. Interment will take place at Kensico Cemetery.
