Louise Marciona passed away peacefully on Friday, October 23. She was 83 years old.
Born in Manhattan to Francesco and Candida Smedile, she attended public school in East Harlem, until she left to help support her family at the age of 16. The middle child of 7 brothers and sisters, Louise was independent and full of life. Her love for dancing would lead to meeting her husband, Joseph, at the Union Settlement Dance Hall in Manhattan. They were married at Mt Carmel Church in Manhattan, eventually settling in Pelham, NY to raise their two children Suzan and Anthony.
Louise worked as a Bookkeeper for Popular Science Magazine at the start of her career and eventually worked for Macy's New Rochelle, in the personnel office. She especially enjoyed her time with the seniors in Pelham, and spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and wife.
Louise is survived by her husband, Joseph, her two children, Suzan and Anthony, son-in-law Joseph and two granddaughters, Francesca and Simone.
A Celebration of Louise's life will be held at the Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Avenue from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, October 25th, and again from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, October 26th. A Service will take place at Huguenot Memorial Church, 901 Pelhamdale Avenue, Pelham Manor, NY on Tuesday, October 27th at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, NY.
