Lorraine Catherine Staunton of Bronxville, NY died on March 25th, 2016 surrounded by her beloved family, she was 88 years old. She was born in Brooklyn, NY to John and Catherine McGuirl. The family would move to the Bronx where Lorraine would attend Morris High School.
After high school Lorraine would go to work for Dunn and Brad Street as an Executive Secretary. Eventually Lorraine would come to work for the US Postal Service where she would work until her retirement.
The most formative event in her life was when a friend (eventually her sister-in-law) would introduce Lorraine to James J. Staunton. The two met, fell in love, and married on November 11th, 1950. The two would enjoy a wonderful 39-year marriage. Even after James's passing on March 17th, 1989, Lorraine would continue to feel close to her beloved husband throughout the years.
Lorraine was an intelligent loving woman. She enjoyed traveling, volunteering and the arts. A woman of strong faith, she was an example of love and compassion to her many nieces and nephews.
Her beloved husband, James J. Staunton, predeceases Lorraine. She leaves behind nephews and nieces whom loved her as a mother, they are: Bob (Cathy) Finck, Jon Finck, Tom (Karen) Horan, Elizabeth Horan (Bob) McHenry, Dolores Horan Miller, Jim (Ginny) Horan. She will be lovingly remembered by 12 grandnephews and grand nieces, as well as, 4 great grand nephews and grand nieces.
A celebration of Lorraine's life will be held at Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Ave., Pelham, NY on Tuesday, March 29th from 4:00 PM to 8:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, March 30th at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, Eastchester, NY. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
