Leo Deierlein June 10, 1923 - August 29, 2014
Leo Joseph Deierlein passed away on August 29th, at the age of 91 at his home in Pelham, NY. One of thirteen children he was born and raised in Port Chester, NY. The family later moved to Mt. Vernon where he attended Mount St. Michael Academy in the Bronx. A veteran of WWII, he served in the US Army from 1942 to 1946, Taking part in the crossing of the Rhine River into Germany in1945 with General Patton's 3rd Army.
He married the love of his life, Florence O'Donnell of Yonkers in 1947 and moved to Pelham, NY in 1956 where they raised their family. Leo worked for Consolidated Edison as a draftsman from 1947 to 1987 when he retired with 40 years of service.
He will be remembered as a loving caring person who was known for his good common sense, good humor and his love of chess and Notre Dame football.
His wife, Florence and son Peter predecease him.
He is survived by his sons Paul, Brian, Jack, daughter Virginia Neal (James husband), grandchildren Michael (Amy), Melanie, Tracy Ceniza (Sean), sisters Andrea Deierlein and Valerie Flax (Jonathan) and great grandchildren Nathan Flax and Daisy Ceniza.
There will be a mass of Christian burial held at St Catharine's Church located at 25 Second Ave Pelham at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 2nd.
