Kelvin Azad Pathay, 71, of Bronx, NY, died suddenly on Sunday, August 31st, 2014. Kelvin was born in Trinidad on December 21, 1942. He moved to England during the late 1960's where he became involved with photography. While living in England he met and married his wife, Margaret. After marrying in 1972, Kelvin and Margaret moved to the United States where they would raise their two daughters, Fiona and Melissa, in the Bronx. Kelvin began work for John's Bargain Store, and ultimately for Rite Aid, from which he retired as store manager in 2007.
A loving, dedicated, joyful man, he loved nothing better than being around his family and especially his grandkids, whether vacationing at the beach or just hanging around in the backyard listening to the sounds of Bob Marley playing in the background. As someone who was never able to attend college himself, he was extremely proud of his daughter's educational achievements, as Fiona attended medical school and became an ophthalmologist, and Melissa attended school to become an occupational therapist. Kelvin's other pride and joy was his home and garden, where he would spend countless hours in the garden or creating Christmas light displays during the holiday season, which he would proudly show off to visitors.
Kelvin is survived by his loving wife, Margaret, and his two daughters Fiona (with husband Brian) and Melissa. He will be sadly missed by grandchildren Noah, 16, Spencer, 15, Alexa, 12 and Tyler, 9.
The celebration of Kelvin's life will be held at Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, on Thursday, Sept. 4th from 6-9 p.m. and Friday, Sept. 5th from 2-4 p.m. A Service will take place at 2:00 PM on Friday, Sept. 5th during the calling hours.
