Katherine LeSane

Katherine Fayretta Lesane - fondly called Kitty was born March 3, 1948 in Seneca, South Carolina. She was the first born to the late James and Zetherine Carson. Kitty attended Prospect Height High School. As a child she loved art.

In 1964 Kitty married the late Samuel Lesane Sr. She had three children - Marcella "aka" Lisa, Samuel Jr. "aka" Popa and Angela. Understanding education was going to be the cornerstone of providing a better life for her children, Kitty attended Columbia Presbyterian Evening School, taking courses to receive her GED, graduated from Municipal Training Center as a Nurses Aide and started working as a Certified Nursing Attendant at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital Family Planning Clinic in Manhattan until from 1974 to 1984. She continued working at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital Oncology Department where she retired in 1999.

Katherine's christian walk started at Family Baptist Church in the Bronx around the age of 26. She became a member of St. Samuel Cathedral COGIC a few years later and was a member for over 15 years. She became very active from the time she arrived in St. Samuel COGIC. Kitty taught Sunday School for children 2 years old and up. She spent her personal vacations every summer working for their Vacation Bible School. A program that ran for 6 weeks for members and non-members. She served on the Usher Board and eventually became the President of the Junior Usher Board. She was also ordained an Evangelist. Overall Kitty loved working with children and they enjoyed her just as much. She had a loving spirit and great passion for the youth. She was a dedicated member and Evangelist while attending St. Samuel COGIC. Later in years she occasionally fellowshipped with Kingdom Christian Cultural Center located in Yonkers.

When Kitty retired after hurting herself on the job she started volunteering for a daycare. She loved the babies and enjoyed spending time with them and the babies loved her. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, travelling, playing cards, scrabble, music and watching baseball. She was a true Yankee fan. If you ever tried to call her when a game was on, she would tell you everything that was happening play by play. Nothing could come in between her and as she called them "her Yankees".

Katherine was called home on June 8, 2021 after dealing with some debilitating illnesses for several years. Her last residence was Split Rock Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center,in the Bronx where she lived for over a year. She was preceded in death by her mother "Zetherine", father "James", sister "Geraldine" and husband "Samuel". She leaves behind to cherish her memory her 3 children, Marcella, Samuel and Angela; her 5 grandchildren, 1 adopted grandchild, 4 great-grandchildren plus 2 more on the way. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews; godchildren, and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and family.

She will be missed by all who have known her.
