Joseph Marciona of Pelham, New York passed away on July 5th 2023. He was 90 years old. Born in Harlem to Anthony and Concetta Marciona, Joseph was the third of four children. Joseph was raised in Harlem New York, where he attended St Cecilia's Elementary School, before graduating from PS-106 High School. Joseph boxed and fenced throughout his high school years.
After graduating from high school, Joseph enlisted as a medic in the army. He married his high school sweetheart, Louise Smedile in 1954. He worked at Alfred E. Smith vocational school teaching automobile mechanics and math, where he also coached the fencing team. Joseph and Louise lived in the Bronx, before moving to Pelham with their children in 1971. In his spare time, he performed with the local community theatres and sang with New Rochelle Opera. He was the inspiration for his children, Anthony and Suzan, to pursue professional careers in show biz. He loved music and the performing arts and shared his passion with his family. He will be remembered always singing and dancing and was always the life of every party. Happily, he achieved his greatest dream of opal mining in Australia
Joseph is survived by his two children, Suzan Marciona and Anthony Joseph Marciona, his son-in-law, Joseph Anthony Lo Bue, his two grandchildren Francesca Waldman, Simone Silverstein, great granddaughter Sydney Louise, and his sister, Louise Di Re. Joseph is predeceased by his wife Louise and his siblings, Gino Marciona and Mary Zappala.
A celebration of Joseph’s life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, New York on Sunday July 9th from 1-4pm. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery on Monday July 10th. For more information or to leave a condolence please visit www.pelhamfuneral.com
