Jorge Cardozo

Jorge Cardozo Guzman of New Rochelle, New York passed on March 20th 2022. He was 64 years of age. Born in Bogota, Colombia to Olimpo Cardozo and Sara Guzman, Jorge was the youngest of 6 children. Jorge was raised in Bogota where he attended local schools before graduating from The National University of Colombia where he studied accounting. As a child Jorge loved to play soccer and would continue to play throughout his adult life. 

After graduating University Jorge would work as an accountant for various Banks. It was during those early years he would also meet his partner of 40 years Marlen. The couple were blessed with two children; Christian and Claudia. Jorge and Marlen would raise their children in Colombia before eventually moving to New York to seek a better life in 1997. 

Jorge worked for advanced auto-parts in New Rochelle for a few years. He was a hard worker, with a great sense of humor. Jorge loved to collect miniature items where ever he would travel. He loved to paint, listen to music, especially classic rock, the Beatles and Elton John. If he wasn’t listening to music you could find Jorge quietly writing poetry.

Jorge will be remembered by his family as crazy but in a good way. He was spirited and extremely passionate. He loved his children more than anything else in life and would always put them first no matter what.

Jorge will be remembered by his partner of 40 years; Marlen, his children Christian and Claudia (Callum) Costello. He will be deeply missed by his two grandchildren Julian and Nathan Costello, his siblings Nora, Rosalba, Leonor, Reinaldo and his partner Maritza. Jorge will be missed by his co-workers, customers and everyone who knew him. He is predeceased by his parents Olimpo and Sara as well as his brother Guillermo. 

A celebration of Jorge’s life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, New York on Monday March 28th from 4-8pm. A memorial mass will take place at St. Mary - Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church located at 23 South High Street, Mount Vernon, New York on Tuesday March 29th at 10:00am.
