John Patrick Lohan died on Tuesday, January 10th; he was 53 years old. John was born on November 17, 1963 in Manchester, UK. His family moved to Ireland when he was eleven years old. He attended St. Mary's College Boyle, Co, Roscommon, where upon completion he began working as a welder. With his eyes ever pressed on the horizon, John came to America in 1990. This life-changing move was by way of England on a Donnelly visa. He settled in Maspeth, New York and worked as a laborer for Local 79, the Construction and General Building Laborers Union. John loved to fish as well as express his creative side as a drawer. He was most athletic in his youth, as witnessed by his swimming prowess. He was indeed a very easy-going man with a quiet, yet witty spirit.
John will be greatly missed by his son; Ryan, mother; Bridie Lohan, and his siblings: two brothers, Michael and David and one sister, Helena.
A celebration of John's life will be held at Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Avenue on Thursday, January 12th from 5-9 PM. Funeral services will be held at Higgins & Son's Funeral Directors, located in Boyle, Co. Roscommon.
Interment will take place at Killaraght Cemetery, Boyle, Co. Sligo. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust, www.kevinbellrepatriationtrust.com.
