John B. Anderson of Pelham, NY passed away on Friday, July 1st. He was 86 years old. Born in Mt. Vernon, NY, he was the only child of John and Eleanor Anderson.
Raised in Bronxville, NY, John graduated from Bronxville High School. He was a loyal Bronxville Broncos fan and would remain so throughout his entire life. Following his talent for artistry, John went to work for Phillips Sign Co., before entering the Armed Forces. He serviced his country from 1951 to 1953. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, John went back to what he loved and took a position at the San Born Map Company. This is where he would meet the woman he would marry, Teresa Ann Burke. The two were married in 1956 and remained married until Teresa's passing in 2009. Together the couple would raise three wonderful daughters. The family settled in Pelham, NY while John went to work for the town of Pelham as a Police Officer for the remainder of his career.
An artist at heart, John had a talent for photography and loved to create life on film. His passion for photography could only be matched by his passion for baseball. John competed in the Seniors Olympics and played softball until he was 70. He was never happier then when he could combine baseball with photography and family.
John is predeceased by his wife, Teresa. He is survived by his daughters: Carol Anderson, Mary Ellen (Manuel J.) Garcia, Barbara Anderson. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren: Jaynean Gallman, Jamie Pasqua and Anderson Garcia. He will be lovingly remembered by his great grandchildren: Blaine and Carli Puchhas, Hunter and Brianna Mitchell.
A celebration of John's life will take place on Tuesday, July 5th from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, NY. Interment will follow the next day at Rose Hill Memorial Cemetery, Putnam Valley, NY.
