Joaquin Alemany of Elmhurst, NY passed away at the age of 91 years at North Shore Hospital, Queens NY. Joaquin was born in Beniali, Spain where he met his wife Rosa before moving to the United States in 1953. He briefly worked for the Valencia Bakery Company as a truck driver before beginning a career as a Pattern maker in Manhattan. Always known to be an efficient multi-tasker and math wizard, Joaquin studied English by reading the New York Times daily during his breaks as a Pattern maker. In addition, he loved to garden, plant Big Boy Tomato plants and never forgot his childhood as a farmer. Joaquin was strong willed, good hearted and politically driven.
He is survived by his wife, Rosa, his daughter, Rosa and his son, Joaquin. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Ellen, Jacqueline, David & Catherine. His sisters, Amparo and Josefina in Spain predeceased him.
The Calling Hours will be held at the Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Avenue on Monday, May 19th from 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm. A Mass will be held at St Catharine's Church located at 25 Second Ave Pelham at 10 am on Tuesday, May 20th.
