Jennie Guarnieri of Mount Vernon, New York, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 26th 2018. She was 94 years old.
Born and raised in Astoria, New York to Vito and Mary DeCarlo, Jennie was one of four children. After graduating from Julia Richmond High School, she furthered her education by attending secretarial school. After attending secretarial school, she met her future husband, James. They married in 1946, and move to Mount Vernon in 1947.
Jennie will always be remembered as a wonderful mother and caregiver. She was a great cook, and was active in the PTA, her church, and other local civic organizations. She was a devout Catholic and attended Mass every morning with her husband. In her spare time she loved to dance and listen to Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett, and Frank Sinatra.
Jennie leaves behind five children: Robert, James, Jeanne, John, and Michael; seven grandchildren: Edward, Nicholas, Dominic, Oliva, Robert, Julie and Alexandria; and four great-grandchildren: Edward Robert, Elizabeth, Ethan, and Collin. She is predeceased by her husband, James and her daughter, Catherine.
A celebration of Jennie's life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home, located at 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, NY, on Monday, April 30th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Catherine's Church, 25 Second Avenue in Pelham, on Tuesday, May 1st at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne NY.
