Ingeburg Babuska

Ingeburg Babuska, of Pelham, New York, passed away on September 5, 2024. She was 87 years old. Born in Oftersheim, Germany to Robert and Freida Kern, Inge was one of 3 children. 

Inge would meet her future husband, Frank, while he was stationed in Germany. The couple would have a whirlwind romance and marry shortly after. Inge moved to New York to join her husband after his service ended. They would later move to Pelham to raise their two children, Yvonne and Frank.

Inge worked as a Crossing Guard for over 30 years. Many will remember her helping the children and their parents cross the road at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Third Avenue.

When not working, Inge enjoyed spending time with her family and loved being outdoors in her garden. She was a proud officer of Yonkers Schwaben Club where she and Frank spent many hours dancing the night away.

Inge will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, relative and wonderful friend. She will be dearly missed; however, her family finds comfort in the many treasured memories she leaves behind.

Inge is survived by her husband of 65 years, Frank, her son Frank (Susan) Babuska, and her son-in-law Tom Quatroni. She will be missed by her six grandchildren, TJ, Rachel, and Robert Quatroni, Kira, Katie, and Frankie Babuska, and her nine great- grandchildren. She will also be missed by her sister Morgot Ganzman and her niece Sabina.

She is predeceased by her daughter Yvonne Quatroni and by her sister Christl Kern.

A celebration of Ingeburg’s life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home located at64 Lincoln Ave., Pelham NY on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, between the hours of 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 10:00 AM, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, located at 575 Fowler Ave, Pelham NY 10803.
