Harry Persanis of Wantagh, Long Island died peacefully on February 13, 2016. He was born in Manhattan to the late Nicholas and Diamondo Persanis. After graduating from Stuyvesant High School, Harry earned an Associates degree.
He married the love of his life, Muriel in 1963 and was happily married over 50 years.
Harry was employed as a Director for the Department of Motor Vehicles while also enjoying many hobbies and interests. Harry's true passion was his compassion regarding helping others and his generous nature. He loved his time spent with his family and was truly a one of a kind person.
Exploring many interests, Harry dabbled in photography, specifically creating special effects at Haberstroh Studios. He also enjoyed traveling, golfing and working on cars. Harry was a well-respected undercover agent for New York State Liquor Authority.
Harry will be missed by his wife, Muriel, his son Matthew and his wife Claire, his daughter Christine and his two grandsons, Luke and Caleb Persanis.
Harry's life will be honored and remembered on Tuesday, February 16th from 4:00-8:00pm at the Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, New York. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, 83 Clove Road, New Rochelle, New York on Wednesday, February 17th at 10:30am.
