Fergal Ryan of Park Slope, Brooklyn formerly of Ballyfermot, Dublin passed away on June 16th 2022. He was 57 years old. Born in Dublin to Michael and Elizabeth Ryan, Fergal was one of three children. He was raised in Ballyfermot where he attended De La Salle Primary School before graduating from St. John’s College in Ballyfermot. Fergal trained as a bar tender at DIT, Cathal Bruagh St. in Dublin. He served his time at the Grove Inn before moving to Brooklyn where he would continue his trade as a bartender. Fergal worked at “200 5th Bar and Restaurant” for over 30 years. In his spare time he loved to play golf, follow the GAA back home in Ireland and root for Leeds United. He also loved going to Mets games with his many friends.
Fergal will be remembered as a kind and generous person, with a wonderful sense of humor. He was loyal and liked by everyone who knew him.
Fergal is survived by his sister Deirdre and her husband George Hanna, his nephew Gary, his niece Lynsey, his brother in-law Tony Galvin and his grand-nieces Heidi and Ivy. Fergal will be missed by his extended family and everyone who knew him. He is predeceased by his parents Michael and Elizabeth Ryan, his sister Geraldine Galvin and his cousin Susan.
A celebration of Fergal’s life will take place at McMahons Public house located at 39 5th Avenue, Brooklyn, New York on Tuesday June 21st at 7:00pm. Fergal will be repatriated home to Dublin where he will be buried with his parents at Newlands Cross Cemetery, Tallaght in Dublin.
