Elma Rosica

February 29, 1916 — February 2, 2015

Elma Rosica passed on February 2, 2015 at the young age of 98, just weeks shy of her 99 birthday. Those who knew her will never forget her sharp mind, great wit and wonderful cooking. She will be sadly missed by all whom ever met her but never be forgotten.

Elma was born in Montreal and moved to the United States as a teenager with her older sister Gertrude. It was in New York where she met the love of her life, Gabriel Rosica and was later married.

Gabriel and Elma moved in 1944 from New York City to the village of Pelham Manor with Gabriel's mother Martha and father Adam and their three children Gabriel, Adam and George. It was here that Elma resided until the passing of her husband Gabriel in 2007. She then moved to Aurora, Ohio where she spent her remaining years near her oldest son Gabriel and granddaughter Julie. Elma died rather suddenly from a major stroke suffered in January after battling pneumonia for weeks.

Elma is survived by her sons: Gabriel and wife Bettina from Solon, Ohio; Adam and wife Debra from Hilton Head, SC; and George and his wife Karen from Leland, NC. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Gregory Rosica and wife Holly; Julie Gosnell and husband James; Mark Rosica and wife Leigh; Adam Andrew Rosica; Alexis Rosica; Beth Ann Rosica and husband Don Urbanic; Michael Rosica and wife Brooke. She is also survived by her great grandchildren: Kelly Rosica, Katie Rosica, Kristy Rosica, Hether Gosnell, Michael Gosnell, Gabriel Rosica, Rhett Rosica, Lauren Rosica, Luca Urbanic and Marco Urbanic.

A Celebration of Elma's life will be held at the Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Avenue from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a brief ceremony on Friday, February 13th. Following visitation hours Elma will be interred at St Raymond's Cemetery in the Bronx, NY.

Rest in Peace mother, may you and dad have eternal happiness.
