Elizabeth Barbieri, of Pelham Manor, NY, entered into eternal rest on February 3, 2020. She was 100 years of age. Elizabeth was born in the Bronx, NY on April 6, 1919 to Giuseppe Coscia and Angelina Califano Coscia. She was educated in the Bronx, graduating from Theodore Roosevelt High School in 1936. She was employed by Slote and Klein Inc from 1936-1942.
Elizabeth was devoted to her husband of 58 years, Gerard Barbieri, who predeceased her. Her home was a center of happy times. Friends, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren would gather there to enjoy her Italian specialities as she delighted in cooking. She was also an avid reader and bridge player. Elizabeth was an active parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Pelham Manor, NY. She is survived by her son Frank (Diana) Barbieri, daughters MaryLou (Frank) Perillo and Elisse (Charles) Acocella; eight grandchildren: Christopher, Frank Jr and Thomas Barbieri, Jennifer (Hornstein) Perillo, Jonathan and Lauren Perillo, and David and Larissa Acocella; eight great-grandchildren: Alessia, Lorenzo, Anna, Nicholas and Bridget Barbieri, and Max, Jake and Andrew Hornstein; and her many nieces and nephews. In addition, she was predeceased by her dear grandson Justin Acocella and seven siblings, brothers Stephen, Gennaro, Anthony, Ralph, and Joseph Jr and sisters Alessia Coscia and Anna Mannino.
A celebration of her century of life will be held on Friday, February 7, 2020 from 3pm to 8pm at the Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Ave, Pelham, NY 10803, (914) 738-1060.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 10am, Saturday, February 8, 2020. Entombment in the family Mausoleum will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
