Eleanor (Helen) Attinello, passed away on the morning of April 15, 2021. She was born on February 20, 1931 in the Bronx, N.Y., to Dominick & Maria (Scagliane) Miniaci, a few months after arriving by boat from Calabria, Italy.
Helen, graduated 1948 from Christopher Columbus High School, where she met the Love of Her Life, John Joseph Attinello. They were married on April 20th, 1952 and were inseparable ever since. After a few years of working at Metropolitan Life, she gave her full devotion to John and raising their family, first in the Bronx, then eventually moving to Pelham Manor in 1968. Helen's pride was her family and friends (which she had many). Helen went on to raise two boys and then was blessed with 4 grandchildren that she adored and 3 great grandchildren, she would have loved just as much.
Known in her earlier days for cooking family meals and her famous cookies, made her very happy to serve the ones she loved. Not one to hold back on her words, made her that more special to all that loved her so much.
Helen is survived by her husband John of 69 years of marriage, her son John and his wife Marie, her son Paul and his wife Kathleen, her beloved grandchildren Anthony (Leigh), Gina (William), Paul (Carolyn) & Julia, her great grandchildren Ethan, Eva & Madison. She is also survived by her nieces & nephews who all held a special place in her heart and will be forever "Aunt Helen" to them. Helen is predeceased by her parents, 2 brothers Alfred & Frank Miniaci and 4 sisters, Louise Rinaldi, Florene Funaro, Violet Fabiani & Jean Filice.
A celebration of Helen's life will take place on April 19, 2021 at 11am, by a mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, located at 575 Fowler Avenue in Pelham Manor, New York. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of Flowers, please send donations to St. Jude Children Hospital, Little Sisters of the Poor or your favorite charity.
