Dorothy Kenny

Dorothy Kenny of New Rochelle, formerly of the Bronx, NY passed away on August 10, 2021. She was 85 years old. Born in New York, NY to Joseph and Rose Quinn, Dorothy was one of five children.

Dorothy started dating the love of her life, Thomas Kenny, when she was 16 years old. She attended the Mary Immaculate school of nursing and after graduating worked as a registered nurse since 1956. Dorothy had a long multifaceted nursing career. Dorothy and Thomas married in 1957 and were blessed with four wonderful children: Mary Ellen, Tara, Brenna and Sean.

Dorothy loved to draw, paint, sew and most of all she loved to spend time with her grandchildren. Dorothy would use charcoal to sketch portraits of friends in the playground and paint images on ping pong paddles when the rubber would come off.

Dorothy will be remembered as caring, loving, creative, and family oriented. She was always happy and loved to laugh and smile. She loved her family and teaching her children to live a life full of love, joy and kindness.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 64 years; Thomas, Sister; Yvonne, Brother; Eamon, Daughters; Mary Ellen (Matthew), Tara (Tom), Brenna (Gary), and son; Sean (Marianne) and her twelve beloved grandchildren; Michael, Natalia, Marie Elena, Catherine, Eliza, Danny (Dana) Bryan, Jason (Lindsie), Rory, Liam, Seamus, Sineid and six great grandchildren; Callen, Bowie, Payton, Paxson, Madison and Grace. Dorothy will be missed by everyone who knew her. Dorothy is predeceased by her parents; Joseph and Rose Quinn, and Sisters; Josephine and Elaine.

A Celebration of Dorothy's Life will be held at the Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, New York on Monday, August 16th from 4:00-8:00 pm. A Funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm at the Funeral Home. Entombment will take place at Rose Hill Memorial Park located at 101 Mill St, Putnam Valley, NY on Tuesday, August 17th at 11:00 am.
