Dorothy Mary DiNapoli of New Rochelle NY passed away on November 1st 2019. She was 89 years old. Dorothy was born in Yonkers NY to Frank and Della Tynan. She attended local schools before graduating from Charles E. Gorton High School. Dorothy was the eldest of three children. Upon graduating Dorothy went to work as a secretary at an oil company in Yonkers. It was there that she would meet her husband Frank. The couple would marry and raise their three children in the south side of New Rochelle. In her early years Dorothy was a home-maker and would later work at Shine Pharmaceuticals after her husband Frank passed in 1983.
Dorothy made lots of friends throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed going to the Hugh Doyle Center, playing Bingo and cards, crossword puzzles and taking day trips to the Elmsford Dinner Theatre. She was more than quick when it came to thinking on her feet, you could rarely pull anything over on Dorothy.
Dorothy will be remembered as a supportive, wise, generous and hardworking person. She was affectionally known throughout the family as "The General" for her list of daily marching orders and as the "Commissioner" when she visited her son Jim at the Firehouse. She loved big band era music, old black and white movies, the Hallmark Channel and Classic Turner Network.
Dorothy is survived by her three children, Nancy (Micherdzinski) DiNapoli, Frank DiNapoli Jr., James DiNapoli, Her grandchildren Laurie Troilo and Angelina DiNapoli, Her great Grandchildren Jake, Julian and Trinity Rodriguez. Dorothy is also survived by her sister Joan Borek. She is predeceased by her husband Frank and her brother Robert Tynan.
A Celebration of Dorothy's Life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Ave. Pelham NY on Thursday, November 7th, from 3:00 â 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at Holy Family Church, New Rochelle, NY on Friday November 8th at 10:30am. Dorothy's burial will follow at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in New Rochelle.
