David Nathaniel Mitchell of Pelham Manor passed away on June 22nd 2019 in New York City. He was 52 years old. He was born in Manhattan, grew up on the Upper West Side and attended local schools before graduating high school from Northfield Mount Hermon in Massachusetts. He attended Grinnell College in Iowa, receiving a bachelor's degree in English. He worked for various companies first in Chicago and then in New York, where he would meet his wife of 11 years Lestiyani Mitchell They would marry in 2008, and moved to Pelham in 2015 with their three children. In his last years, David worked for Stroz Friedberg AON Company as a Project manager.
David will be remembered as a gentle, loyal, caring husband and father. He was a best friend to many, retaining close ties with people he had known since childhood. He was a voracious reader, had a deep interest in history, and loved visiting Montauk and listening to jazz. He thoroughly enjoyed making people laugh and impersonating voices especially George Bush. He adored his family and had a close relationship with his mother.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Lestiyani and their children: Moira Elizabeth, David Matthew and Abigail Sarah. He is survived by his mother Emily Mitchell, his sister Jenny Lee Mitchell and brother-in-law Aldo Ryzy-Ryski. He is predeceased by his dad David Mitchell, an award-winning scenery designer for opera and Broadway.
A celebration of David's life will take place on Wednesday June 26th from 4-8 Pm at the Pelham Funeral Home Located at 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham NY. A Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday June 27th at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church located at 575 Fowler Ave, Pelham Manor, NY. Interment will be private.
