Darshanand D Ramdas

Darshanand D. Ramdas of Mount Vernon New York, formerly of Pelham New York passed away on August 23rd, 2021. He was 57 years old. Born in De Willem, Guyana to Dhanraj and Deowatie Ramdas. Darshanand was the oldest of 7 children. He was raised in Guyana and moved to Suriname where he would meet his wife, Jean Bepat. They were married for 38 years. They met through Jean’s brother Roy and the couple would eventually marry in Suriname. Darshanand and Jean were blessed with two daughters Shakuntala and Satrupa. His biggest pride and joy were his wife and daughters. He was extremely proud of their success and constantly complimented them on their achievements.

In 1988, Darshanand would move to New York where he studied aeronautical engineering and eventually became an entrepreneur before getting into academia. He spent most of his academic career at Beta High School. He taught Math, Technology, and Engineering. Darshanand was an avid gardener. He also invented a hydroponic generator in 2003 and later founded the company Ramdas Green Energy Corporation. Darshanand loved to travel, he visited 39 of the 50 states. Internationally, his favorite trip was to Stone Henge in England. In addition, Darshanand loved playing the tabla drums.

Darshanand will be remembered as intelligent, loving, funny, and family oriented. He was kindhearted and charitable. Darshanand is a dedicated family man who is survived by his wife Jean, his daughters Shakuntala and Satrupa, his siblings Vivek, Sato, Uma, Priya, Jankie, and Padma as well as his brother/sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Darshanand will be missed by everyone he knew because he deeply loved and appreciated his family and friends.

A celebration of Darshanand’s life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham New York on Thursday, August 26th from 4-8 pm. Darshanand’s funeral procession will leave the Pelham Funeral Home at 8:30 am sharp to arrive at Ferncliff crematory at 9:10 am. The cremation will take place at Ferncliff Crematorium located at 280 Secor Rd, Hartsdale New York on Friday, August 27th at 9:30 am sharp.
