Charlotte Oi Quon Wong passed away on May 10, 2017. She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, the only daughter of Solomon and Elsie Wong.

She was educated at Roosevelt High School in Honolulu in 1941, the University of Hawaii where she received a Bachelor of Arts and Science Degree in 1946 and Columbia University School of Social Work where she received her Masters Degree in 1948.

In 1950 she married Frank Y. S. Wong who predeceased her in 1997. They had two sons. In 2000 she married Norman Chin.

Charlotte was director of the Head Start Program at the Yonkers Messiah Baptist Church for five years in the 1970s. She was on the Board of Directors of the YWCA of Yonkers in 1970. Charlotte was also a Girl Scout leader, a United Way Volunteer, director of the Food Pantry, which was associated with the Yonkers Council of Churches, a volunteer at the Senior Center at the Grinton I. Will Library and a member of the 1996 Olympic Torch Relay Team. Charlotte joined West Center Congregational Church (WCC) in Bronxville, NY in 1958 where she was a member at large, member of the Board of Directors and Sunday school teacher. In 2008 WCC honored Charlotte for 50 years of church service. On May 15, 1999 the Sharing Community of Yonkers bestowed Charlotte with the Compassion in Action Award.

Along with many other interests including cooking and entertaining, there were many events held for special occasions where everyone was treated as family. Charlotte was a patron of the arts and loved attending theatre, opera, ballet and symphony performances. She always enjoyed a good game of tennis and held a Yonkers tennis permit until she was 85.

She leaves behind her 2 sons and their spouses, Â Lani and Lucille Wong, Pono and Jane Wong, her three grandsons Spencer, Alex and Jackson, her brother Cyril Wong of Honolulu, Hawaii, cousin Therese Midori Nagai of Yonkers, NY and a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her brothers Edmund and Albert.
