In our most loving memory of Cecilia Velez, who went home to be with our Lord on April 23rd at the age of 87. Born on February 3rd, 1934. She was the wife of Luis Daniel Velez aka Abuelo. Growing up in the town of Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico, eventually migrating to New York City in the late 1950's. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. Cecilia was a devout Christian who dedicated her life to serving the Lord. She led a prison ministry for over 30 years, dedicating her spirit and soul, it was a passion of hers. She embodied such a strong foundation of faith, love, and happiness. Family to her was everything and more. Everyone who has crossed paths with Cecilia, has left with something. Whether it was a recipe, a prayer, a laugh, or even a smile. Her life had one purpose and one purpose only, to love endlessly and effortlessly. Traveling was her most favorite thing to do. Wherever she was, as long as her family was near, she was happy. If you knew her, you knew her love and passion for the kitchen. She always made sure your belly and heart were full. Cecilia was selfless, charismatic, strong, and definitely a character. Her smile was contagious, and her presence was up-lifting. Being that she was a God-fearing woman, a prayer warrior, and a pillar, there isn't a doubt that she is where she always knew she would be.
