Anna M. Poggiali of Pelham passed away on Wednesday, July 16, at her daughter's residence in Florida. She was 98 years old.
Anna was born in Mount Vernon on August 12, 1915 to Joseph and Michelina Salvati. In 1941 she married Alfonso, and they enjoyed more than fifty years of marriage before he passed away in 1993. Anna was proud to have worked in a wide range of jobs throughout her life, including as an office manager at several medical practices in New Rochelle. She remained active after retirement, volunteering at New Rochelle Hospital and serving as an officer of the Pelham Seniors. Anna was also a longtime parishioner of St. Catharine's Church in Pelham. She enjoyed exercising her remarkable "green thumb," beating friends and family alike at card games, and watching any movie her children and grandchildren brought home.
Anna is survived by her children: Paul, of Brooklyn; Leonard and wife Elizabeth, of Eastchester; and Marlene Greil and husband Ira, of Orlando; and her grandchildren Christian, Philip and wife Kristina, and Jennifer Poggiali, and Matthew and Jessica Greil.
A wake will be held Monday, July 21 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Pelham Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM at St. Catharine's Church in Pelham. Internment to follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye.
