Alice Materasso of Bronx, New York, passed away at her home on Thursday, March 1st, 2018. She was 76 years old.
Born in New York City to John and Connie Okpych, Alice was one of two girls. She was raised in the Bronx where she attended local schools. After graduation from High School Alice would marry her High School sweetheart Carmine Materasso. They would marry in October 1961 at St. Dominicks Church in the Bronx.
Alice was a selfless lady who loved to help where she could. She was a mother to many. Alice volunteered her time at St. Theresa's Church Alter Society. She could also be seen helping her husband at baseball practice. Alice was a member of the Davenport Beach club and Surf Club. She enjoyed spending time at the beach, soaking up the sun or just spending time with neighbors and friends. One of Alice's happiest moments was when Dean Martin was in concert. She kept in touch with Dean Martin's family and hosted the singers daughter at her home many times. Deana mentioned her by name in her book "Memories are made of this"
Alice will be remembered as a loving, happy and selfless person.
Alice leaves behind her children Michael Materasso, Frances Materasso, Daughter-in-Law Carol Ann, her grandchildren Nicole and Isabella; her sister Linda Filamarino, Brother-in-Law Donald Filomarino, Sister-in-Law Donna Materassoand her nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews. She will be missed by everyone she knew. Alice is predeceased by her husband Carmine and beloved dog Epcot.
A celebration of Alice's life will take place Sunday March 4th from 4-8pm at the Pelham Funeral Home 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham NY. A Funeral mass will take place at 11:00 am onMonday March 5th at St. Theresa Church, 2855 St. Theresa Avenue, Bronx NY. Interment will follow at The Woodlawn Cemetery.
